Sony is reportedly discontinuing the PS4 and PS4 Pro models

With the release of Playstation 5, Sony has seen record-breaking sales for the console, and now the company is already planning to discontinue the production of their most popular last-generation console, the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro. However, the discontinuation will currently be implemented only in Japan and could soon be something that Sony has been planning to implement globally as well. As per the information from the local retailers in Japan, they have informed all their customers that they will no longer be stocking the PS4 variants, nor the Glacier White edition of PS4 pro.

As per them, it has been done because Sony has decided to stop the manufacturing of these consoles. The statement was also posted by Sony on social media, claiming that it would no longer offer PS4 Pro consoles for sale, before subsequently removing that statement after press coverage. The decision has definitely been taken due to the enormous response the company has received from PS5 and after the announcement, the PS4 numbers in the market will only be limited. Sony has not made an official announcement for the same but the details have been confirmed by a leakster on Twitter by the name Cheesemeister.

The PS4 variants that will no longer be manufactured by the company are PS4 500GB Glacier White, PS4 1TB Jet Black, PS4 1TB Glacier White, PS4 2TB Jet Black, and PS4 Pro 1TB Glacier White. The PS4 variants were sold in huge numbers recently in the Black Friday sale and the discount on them was very huge. This might be one of the major reasons why the console was available in the market at such a huge discount. It seems that the company will only be keeping the PS5 and PS5 digital edition as their gaming consoles in the market. So if you were planning to buy a PS4 for yourself, then this might be the right time to get the console if it is still available.
